So we managed to get some sleep (after that kind of long day, how could we not), and decided to do some relaxing, seeing as how that was the main reason we were there (unlike some crazy people who like to see everything possible while on their honeymoon, hi Erin :) ). Checking out the pool was nice, especially having a bar right next to it. The local scuba operators offered free trial scuba excursions in the resort pool that morning, so I decided to try it. It wasnt really a lesson, but just a demonstration to see if you might want to pay a lot of money to go out on a guided excursion, even if you didnt have a scuba certification. I figured it was free, so why not try it out? I must admit, I found it really cool. But it wouldnt be something I would want to do in the open ocean without having gone through the proper training.
While we were out, the room attendant had been in and made up our bed, and done up this cute pair of swans. Then we decided to take some more pictures of the resort, and head out to Playa del Carmen, and do some shopping. It turns out that Playa del Carmen has one main street with 90% of the shops located on it, and it was a 5 minute taxi ride from our resort. Now, for anyone who has never been to Mexico, they really like to barter down there, and every price is negotiable. It took us a little while to get used to this concept, but eventually we got the hang of it. What is really good, is to make sure you only have so much money left, and get down to a reasonable price, and then only have less than that left in your wallet (do not take your credit card with you, unless you really want to spend the money). Of course, if you dont save $5 for the taxi, then you have to walk back to your resort. But hey, we got some nice pictures of speed bumps, houses and condos.
And then it turns out the resort puts on nightly entertainment, but not until 10pm. We decided to check it out, and made it through 1/2 an hour before we were so tired we could barely keep our eyes open. So we didnt bother with the entertainment after that. But if you can stay up for it, it appeared to be pretty decent, with something different every night. And if you dont like that, then you can always join plenty of people at the bar :)
